Who we are

The Postgraduate School for Environmental Studies ( ASA ) was founded within the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Brescia in 2008. Within this territorial context, characterised by a strong dynamism, the  Postgraduate School for Environmental Studies represents a structure distinguished by excellence in research and in didactical activities, which proposes concrete answers and solutions to the problems linked to the environment and to the connected economical, social and cultural changes.

The multidimensionality of the environmental questions requires new capacities in order to analyse the relations between societies, institutions, enterprises, research and education, according to a multiplicity of criteria and methods within which scientific, socio-pedagogical and political-economical approaches converge. 

Development, environment, human values, political decisions are inextricably joined. An environmental awareness built on hope for the societies future perceives that the development, to be authentic, must be integral, oriented to promotion of every man, without separating the Economy from Civilization, the Education from Governance processes on which the protection of the planet depends. Mission and history

The institute is situated in a territorial area, that of Brescia, of strong dynamicity and attentive to grasp the potentials offered by economic and productive transformations on global and local scale. By virtue of the international network of partnerships with companies, organizations and centers of excellence, ASA works as think tank, as a reflection space in which students, scientists, scholars, professionals, researchers can develop projects, products and consulting activity.


Working through partnerships with diverse organizations - including business, schools, government and not-for-profit agencies - ASA conducts organizational assessments, researches and educational programs on multiple themes connected with the construct of sustainability, as such:
